Hackney Taxi Drivers Fighting Rise in Costs
A petition has been launched aimed at the council by a local branch of drivers union in favour of the proposed fare rise in Bracknell Forest. Their argument is that something has to be done to fight the ever crippling effect of the rises in Taxi Insurance and fuel costs.
The adjustment in fares which comes into effect on the 23rd June and will effect all licensed metered taxis that can either be hailed or picked up from the ranks. It will also affect private hire taxi’s (minicabs) that run a meter. Any private hire taxi company that goes off their own rates are in no way obliged to increase their fares.
Increases will be seen as follows:
- 1 mile journey – from £4 to £4.20
- 2 mile journey – from £5.40 to £6
- 3 mile journey – from £6.80 to £7.60
- 12 mile journey – £20 t £23.60
